Overview
For VMAX Pokemon, Victini VMAX has rather low HP [310] has a Water weakness. Although its HP is low, it is a strong card to counter against both V Pokemon and VMAX Pokemon. Its second attack, Max Victory has 100 Base Damage and does extra 120 Damage if your opponent's Active Pokemon is Pokemon V. And, you only need 2 Energy to use this attack to deal 220 Damage against Pokemon V. Unlike other popular Pokemon V, you don't even need to either discard Energy Card or wait for another turn. . .
Victini VMAX first attack, Spreading Flames allows you to attach 3 Fire Energy Cards from your discard pile to your Pokemon in any way you like. This effect is great for setting up Energy to your Pokemon when you have certain number of Fire Energy Cards in your discard pile. You can also intentionally discard Fire Energy Cards from your hand to use this effect.
For its pre-evolution, it is much better to use Victini V [Sword & Shield] as its has the same first attack which can also be used to accelerate Energy set up.
Although Victini VMAX is strong against Pokemon V, it will have a hard time when dealing with non-V Pokemon since its attack, Max Victory will only deal 100 Damage to non-V Pokemon. Thus, it is highly recommended to put other attackers in your deck.
Energy
With Giant Hearth and Welder in your hand, you will be able to attach 2 Energy to Victini VMAX and start attacking your opponent’s Pokemon V.
Volcanion can also be used to accelerate your Energy set up especially if you go second. Doing so, its attack, Flare Starter will allow you to attach 3 Fire Energy cards to your Pokemon in any way you like.
